Trailing 15-12 at the end of the first quarter, the Greenfield girls basketball team poured in 23 points in the second quarter to take a 35-24 lead into the half.

That offensive run carried over into the second half, where the Green Wave erupted for 33 third-quarter points to pull away for an 81-39 victory over Frontier at Goodnow Gymnasium in South Deerfield on Tuesday.

Lillia Kachelmeyer was on fire for Greenfield, finishing with 24 points – 17 coming in the second half. Freshman Amber Bergeron dropped 21 points and Katie Haselton added 18 points to the winning total.

Rebecca Bridwell, Kylie Laford and Charlotte Doulette each finished with seven points for the Red Hawks, with Sierra Warren and Alena Maes-Polan both recording five points.

It was senior night for Frontier, and though different than past ceremonies, the Red Hawk seniors said they appreciated having the opportunity to be honored.

“It was really fun despite the lack of people in the gym,” said senior Amelia Sobieski, who’s missing this season with an injury. “It was great to just have something and we’re happy we got to be recognized. It was different but it recognized our last few years of playing, what we’ve done and how we’ve grown which was cool.”
