State law requires the City of Greenfield to distribute the “Conflict of Interest Law” on an annual basis to all Greenfield Public School (GPS) employees. You can view the official memo here.

According to the law, GPS employees do not have to be full-time paid employees to be considered an “employee” for conflict of interest purposes. Anyone performing service for the school district, or holding a position with GPS, whether paid or unpaid, including full and part-time municipal employees, elected/appointed officials, volunteers, and consultants, is a GPS district “employee” under the Conflict of Interest Law.

GPS employees must read the Conflict of Interest Summary (located here), sign the Acknowledgement Receipt found on the back page of the document, and return the signed Acknowledgement Receipt to the administrative assistant in your school building no later than February 25, 2020. Please also print and keep a copy for your own records. Central Office staff can submit their Acknowledgment Receipt to Lori Daby in the Superintendent’s Office.

Additionally, the State Ethics Commission mandates each municipal employee, including GPS employees, to complete an Ethics & Conflict of Interest training program and print a certificate of attendance on all even years. Therefore, EVERYONE IS REQUIRED to participate in the Ethics training program for 2020.

The “Conflict of Interest Ethics Training Program” for GPS employees can be found at: www.muniprog.eth.state.ma.us the program can also be accessed through the State Ethics Commission website at www.mass.gov/ethics by clicking the online training module located in the center of the homepage. Print out the Certificate of Completion and submit a hard copy to the administrative assistant in your school building no later than February 25, 2020. Please also print and keep a copy for your own records. Central Office staff can submit their Certificate of Completion to Lori Daby in the Superintendent’s Office.
