An Introduction to
Accelerated Reader

Accelerated Reader is designed to boost reading achievement. The Enterprise version currently in place in the Greenfield Public Schools also provides access to Home Connect, enabling teachers to share student reading progress with parents and extend practice beyond the school day.
The benefits of Accelerated Reader are many, including
Make essential reading practice more effective for every student.
Personalize reading practice to each student’s current level.
Manage all reading activities including read to, read with, and independent reading.
Assess students’ reading with four types of quizzes: Reading Practice, Vocabulary Practice, Literacy Skills, and Textbook Quizzes.
Build a lifelong love of reading and learning.
We have scheduled online training Webinars for October 31st (beginning 8:15 AM, in the computer lab at Federal Street School) to introduce Accelerated Reader to the entire elementary staff. Participating K-5 teachers will learn to use Accelerated Reader with students to motivate reading and strengthen reading skills. They will also have hands-on time to work with program features and level available reading texts.
To determine which training Webinars teachers wanted to watch, Carol Holzberg, District Technology Coordinator created a list of all available Accelerated Reading Webinars and posted them in an online survey. Teachers were asked to choose which Webinars they wanted to view. 21 teachers responded to the survey. Here is a list of Webinars that received the most votes:

Teachers can view the Webinars on their own at other times. For access to those Webinars, please complete the following steps:
The Renaissance Training Center has many resource, including the Webinars we are going to watch today. To access those resources on your own from school or home, please follow these simple instructions:
- Go to http://www.renlearn.com
- Click on the Training Center box.
- Next, click on the Login box.
- If you already have a Renaissance Online Plus Account, click Login and enter your current username and password.
- If you do not have an Online Plus Account, click Create an Account under the New Visitor column.
- After creating a new account, you will be able to preview all of the Renaissance Training Center’s webinar session offerings for 24-48 hours. Once your account has been confirmed at Renaissance Learning, you will be able to access only those webinar sessions available through our Renaissance Place subscription. I believe that all the Webinars on the original Survey list will be available to you until our subscription runs out.

Your login username is your firstname initial and last name (e.g., my name is Carol Holzberg, so my login username would be: cholzberg).
