Book to Movie Club

All members of the community are invited to attend a free screening of the movie 'Wonder' at Greenfield High School, on Friday, April 27 at 6:30pm.

On April 12, GHS Librarian Jessica Pollock and 4 high school students traveled to Smith College to meet and speak with award-winning author Nicola Yoon.

GHS Librarian, Jessica Pollock, elaborates:

Four students from the Library Club went to hear Nicola Yoon speak at Smith College on the evening of Thursday, April 12th, at an event hosted by the Greenfield Center School.  Nicola Yoon is the author of The Sun is Also a Star and Everything Everything, the first GHS and GPL Book 2 Movie Club title. This was an incredible opportunity for our students to hear a best-selling teen author speak in person.

Ms. Yoon had an informal conversation on stage with Dr. Elizabeth Stordeur Pryor, Associate Professor of History at Smith College. Topics they discussed included race in literature and the importance of seeing yourself represented in books. One of the GHS students attending asked the author a creative question during the Q&A period: What would happen if the Maddie and Natasha (protagonists from Yoon's two Young Adult novels) met? After the talk, GHS students got to meet Ms. Yoon, get copies of her books signed, and even take a photo with her. Certainly, this will be a night we will all remember!

Check out some photos from this exciting event!
