OUR NEXT PTO MEETING: 6:30 PM Wednesday, December 3
ALL SCHOOL MEETING: 9:00 AM, Friday, December. 12

Dear Federal Street Families,
I am writing to wish you well as we head into colder days and a time of Thanksgiving.

At Federal Street School we give thanks for the arrival of a third specialist so our offerings now include the following: Physical Education with Christine Russell; Technology with Rachel Cronen-Townsend; and Art with Anna Pertzoff.

Please join me in welcoming, Tracy Crowe, an associate principal new to Greenfield. Tracy comes to us with a great deal of administrative experience and expertise. We have set up space together at both the Federal and Newton offices and actually made them look bigger in the process. As Tracy becomes oriented to the district I am anticipating she will be a tremendous help and I am thrilled to have her on board. Please give her a friendly hello if you meet her.

All the best as we approach the holiday season.
Sincerely,
B. Joan Schell, Ed.D.

Boots WINTERY WEATHER AHEAD!
Days are getting colder and soon we will be seeing the snow fly. Please send your child in with a hat and mittens everyday. Boots and snow pants are needed when there is snow on the ground. Our rule for recess is that children must stay in the cleared blacktop area unless they have boots on. Fresh air and exercise make healthy, lively learners, so we send children outside for recess whenever we safely can. Our children LOVE to play outside! So, please, bundle up!

Holiday Fever

HOLIDAY FEVER
At FSS, we keep this holiday month low key with our focus on learning. The media holiday blitz is aimed directly at our children, and the result is increased acting-out, crankiness, anxiety and exhaustion. We ask you for your help by keeping things simple at home, minimizing exposure to TV, and making sure children get to bed early every night. We also thank you for NOT sending holiday treats into school. You will always be notified if your child's teacher is planning any kind of celebration.

FREEDOM CREDIT UNION YOUTH BANKING PROGRAM
We are happy to announce a new program starting at FSS in partnership with the Freedom Credit Union. This program teaches children about money sense, pride in saving, responsibility, and delayed satisfaction. We encourage parents to enroll your children. Thank you to Kristy Joy for bringing this banking program to FSS! Kristy will be at FSS the first Wednesday of each month from 8:30 – 9:00 AM to collect deposits.

Peace

It does not mean to be in a place

where there is no noise, trouble

or hard work. It means to be in

the midst of those things and will

be calm in your heart.

Parking Reminders
We have only enough slots for our staff, and cars parked inappropriately keep staff from getting to and from work. Please use neighboring lots, and never leave cars sitting in the traffic lanes unattended. We have been asked by the Elks Club not to park in their lot.
